Time Trial Information

Date: Saturday, August 15, 2009
Time: Girls Race - 8am
Boys Race - 9am

ALL Milton runners should be at the course NO LATER THAN 7:15am!!

Location-Milton HS, 13025 Birmingham Hwy, Alpharetta, GA 30004

5045m, 3-loop course: (1st loop is 1000m, 2nd & 3rd loop are 2000m each), 98% off road-grass, barkchip, gravel, dirt, 3 road crossings of 8-10 ft each, 4 wooden bridge crossings.
All miles and kilometers will be marked. Split timers will call times and will be at miles 1, 2 and 3.
Course monitors, cones and paint/flour arrows will be used for course markings.

Start is located on the lacrosse/band practice field at the lower right of the map, closest to Freemanville Rd, as indicated on the map. The adjacent parking lot will be closed off for use by meet personnel only.

Teams: Milton runners will be placed in teams of 6-7 runners and compete in a “mock” cross country meet. With over 70 boys AND 70 girls running that will be approx 12 teams running in each race. The purpose of this is to teach our runners how a meet is scored and how a meet is set up and run. The teams will be evenly divided so the team competition should be close and any team can win. Each team will have their own starting box, which is where the runners will line up at the starting line.

Scoring/Timing:
We will score the meet for both boys and girls.
We will use race/bib numbers which will designate what team each runner is on since all runners will be wearing Milton uniforms/colors.
Each Milton runner that completes the race will receive a time. That time will be the runner’s PR (personal record for THIS season) and will be the runner’s benchmark to use to try and beat the next time the runner races. If the runner improves their time at the next meet that runner will receive extra lettering points.

Awards:
1st, 2nd & 3rd place girls and boy’s teams along with 1st place girl and boy individual finishers will each win prizes. Everyone on the winning teams will receive an award.
There will also be a giveaway of NIKE cross country spikes to 2 lucky Milton XC runners!!

Bathroom facilities should be available at the softball/baseball complex, adjacent to the meet start/finish.
