2006 Ray Miller Invitational

The Milton Eagles Cross Country team traveled to southeastern Georgia for their annual overnite trip and meet at Magnolia Springs State Park in Millen. The 4th annual Ray Miller Invitational was held Sept 16th and Milton again dominated the competition, sweeping all 4 races.

The varsity boys avenged their loss in 2005 to Hephzibah by winning the meet convincingly by scoring a low 28 points to outdistance both Statesboro and Hephzibah. Leading the boys again was Christian Scholz with a second place finish. Milton placed all 7 of their runners in the top-15!

The varsity girls again dominated the event with all 7 runners finishing in the top-10. Paced by Megan Hirschi’s new course record (20:51), the Lady Eagles scored a near-perfect 18 points and were never threatened. Former course record holder Sarah Foreman (21:19) was 2nd and Jamie Chandler finished 4th.

The JV races were nothing short of amazing. With awards going to the top-7 finishers in both the boys and girls JV competitions, Milton swept the competition! Milton runners finished in the top-10 OVERALL positions in the boy’s race, paced by up and coming Brandon Halls. The girl’s were also just as impressive with Laura Randall leading from start to finish to get the win with Milton runners in the next 6 OVERALL positions.

The top 7 runners in both varsity and JV will travel to Birmingham, AL for the Great American cross country festival where the eagles will face their strongest fields & schools this season.
