Aubrea Gunderson
2006 Aubrea Gunderson Invitational
September 30, 2006
The Milton Cross Country teams traveled to Conyers and the Olympic International Horse Park to compete in this yearly invitational meet formally called the Patriot Invitational, hosted by Heritage High School. Note: the meet named changed this year to commemorate the sad death of Heritage cross country runner Aubrea Gunderson who lost her life in 2005 when she was struck by a car while running, near her school during practice. Milton’s fast completion of their cross country course (finished in just 1 year) was strongly influenced by this tragic event.

Freshman Tyler Tomy led Milton to a strong 9th place finish (out of 24 teams) in the championship division. Tyler’s 17th place finish was followed by Mitchell Foley (43rd) and Seth Tomy (60th). There were 219 finishers.
Varsity Girls
In a close team battle, the Lady Eagles placed 8th out of 22 teams in the championship division. Megan Hirschi again led Milton with her outstanding 5th place finish (192 runners finished). Her season best time was followed by Sarah Foreman (19th) and then the “pack” followed: Jamie Chandler (64th), Susannah Hardy (68th) and freshman sensation Steph Butzer (69th).
