2007 Season Highlights

BOYS
The boy’s followed up their incredible 2006 season with as equally good 2007 campaign. This team finished NO WORSE THAN 3rd in ANY MEET they ran, less state of course. 2nd at Berry (besting 69 teams) & Coach Wood, 3rd at Warpath, NIKE Class Clash, Knoxville and region and 1st at COUNTY! Their 8th place at the state meet (besting 4 top-10 ranked schools in the process) was sweet vindication fr a team that was written off right when the season began and remained unranked the entire season, just like 2006! Their effort at the state meet, almost 20 seconds faster team average time than 2006 would have put them on the podium the last 2 years!! The 2008 season looks bright as 5 of the top-7 runners return and with a very large team, success seems almost assured.
GIRLS
This team won 2 meets this season (Berry/Clara Bowl beating 66 teams and Coach Wood besting 20 teams).
Even after a dismal 5th at the County meet, this team rebounded, did their homework and came back to finish an amazing 4th at region, besting 8 other schools to qualify for the state meet for the 5th consecutive year.
This team finished 11th at the state meet beating 3 top-10 ranked schools in the process including a team that had beaten them by 70 points at Cherokee Warpath just 2 month previous (Etowah). The team returns their top-5 runners from the state meet team and with a very deep and young squad should even be better this season.
