2005 Season Highlights
November 2005
BOYS
The Milton boy’s team in 2005 was one of excitement and the birth of a new breed of Eagle runners. 13 of the top-14 runners on the 2004 team were lost to graduation so we had NO idea what we were going to have. We quickly learned that the youth of this team also brought about extreme highs and lows and runners gaining experience at every race and meet we ran. 2 highlights of the season were a 2nd place finish at Ray Miller and the unbelievable 2nd place (almost a win) at Fulton County. The boy’s ran better week after week and even though they missed the state meet by 9 points, they were not disappointed with what they had done this season. Again, with a team of over 50 runners and only 2 of our top-12 graduating, 2006 looks like a good year for the Milton Eagles.
GIRLS
The 2005 Milton girl’s team came into the season with high hopes and expectations and thanks to two new transfer student-athletes and the infusion of a first-time runner (but a very experienced athlete in lacrosse & softball) those expectations were realized. Out of 10 meets the girls picked up 8 trophies. Highlights included 1st place team finishes at Ray Miller, Patriot, Asics and a dominant winning performance at Fulton County. The girl’s also placed 3rd at Clemson and Last Chance and 4th at Berry and region. The girl’s were continually ranked in the top-10 in the state the entire season. Even though the team had their worst race at state in finishing 13th, the girl’s team was one team that always worked hard, encouraged and raced well together. With a team of over 65, we Milton coaches look forward to another successful and exciting 2006 season.
